AuDHD report on Channel 5

This report about AuDHD diagnosis was on Channel 5 yesterday. Worth a watch.

  • I think people are starting to realise there are huge numbers of undiagnosed adults and that this is a real thing that needs to be addressed.

Anything that adds to general public awareness of it has to be a good thing (series like Patience help too).

  • I only got my ASD assessment results just before Christmas and it does suggest that should also be assessed for ADHD, so onto another lengthy waiting list I go.

On a slightly different topic I do find five news a bit light weight in it's style and overly simplified, it almost reminds me on John Cravens' News round. It was nice to see it addressed on a national TV channel though.

  • I thought there might have been more discussion forth coming on this thread.

I think there are a particular subset of challenges for people of this sort which is different to those who have one or the other. There's a near constant internal battle. In particular how to recover from burnout when one gets bored easily and needs stimulation but finds it too overwhelming or is in a state of inertia. How to get going again at a reasonable rate to give oneself some purpose but without being overloaded. It is a line which is not easily balanced upon.

  • I do agree and I think it's only until conditions start to affect the majority (which it will one day), will other changes be made. I'm pleased you have been discussing adjustments at work!

  • Several of us have been discussing adjustments at work and everyone has agreed that most of those adjustments would benefit everyone, not just ND people, and most of them don’t have any cost impact. Obviously this is easier in my line of work than if I worked in say a retail environment or a factory, but there is much that can be done across the board with little impact.

  • I watched 50% of it.................

"There are more shapes than circles or squares". True.  My opinion is this sort of stuff is important to us, or the people around us, but for the vast majority, it isn't. I don't know where all this will eventually end. Individual needs for absolutely everyone cannot be catered for across the majority of society.  The best way I find, is to make my own adjustments within myself.

    Just my two penneth.
