New Years Resolutions

Seems like the appropriate time of year to pose this question:

What are your thoughts on New Years Resolutions as a concept? Do you try to set and follow one at the start of each year, or is it something you don't give much thought to? I personally never gave them much thought as a concept but this year I think i'm going to set myself some for once i'm home.

I'll be looking to try to do three things by the end of 2025:

1. Get myself to the gym at least once per week for at least 1-2 hours of exercise in something I like.

2. Find a new Hobby or Club to join for socialising with people.

3. Learn how to drive, and with luck maybe get myself a car for the first time.

I'm not expecting to do any of these right away; most of these I will most likely only be able to do within the last half of the year, but I still want to try to achieve it. Lets see if we can get a positive discussion going!

  • I've never bothered with it. I like to be in control of my life and decide when I do things. The only thing I really do by the calendar is Christmas, but that's because everything shuts down and I do actually like sitting at home eating good food and watching a movie or playing games. But we don't follow all the traditions - one year we had chilli for Christmas dinner.
