Imposter syndrome

Can anybody else relate to imposter syndrome ? After referrals and meetings / assessments with medical people who diagnosed me , it was still in the back of my mind that I’m making it up or something. All my life I’ve masked so well so it conflicted with me . I’m getting better at it now but wondered if anyone else had similar experiences ?

  • I’m not officially diagnosed and am currently trying to make peace with the thought that I might never get the chance to get assessed. This lack of certainty only fuels my imposter syndrome even though it would make no sense for me to make this up since I’m not getting anything out of it. Nonetheless, especially when I’m feeling stressed, overwhelmed and unable to do the things that are expected of me, I’m thinking that all my suspicions and efforts to understand my brain are just some weird justification for being lazy and dumb.
This forum is the first time I’m connecting with others who are autistic (diagnosed or not) or think they might be. This is helping me a lot.
