Advice!

I'm at a point at the moment where I'm really stuck with how to word certain things. I struggle to communicate effectively (I.e

Rush talk, tripping over words, words coming out in a bumbling mess etc!)

I just feel like i need to have some kind of wording readily available for moments like these without just blurting out 'I'm autistic and I struggle to speak sometimes'

It's that weird look people give me that I've had my whole life. It's like a moment that their face changes and I can feel that they think I'm a bit odd.

And also, as my child has both conditions too, I'm struggling to navigate those words again if he's having any kind of outburst i.e

kids birthday parties. It's knowing what to say to other mums too when a situation like that arises

  • Hello,

I have speech issues and had therapy to help with this by breathing exercises. I also wear a sunflower lanyard and alert card when out so people are aware and it does work. In therapy, I was advised to have a sales pitch when speaking to new people in order to explain that I have a speech impediment and to advise me if they failed to understand something I have said.
