List of what is currently wrong with the forum

I was wondering if most people who contribute here are fine with no current problems, so I thought a list might be useful.

I'm rather despairing at the moment of its brokenness and absence of communication from NAS about a timescale (or anything) for sorting these.

It's making me wonder whether to bother any longer.

1. I know that   has a message coming up in orange at the top saying his account may/will be deleted.

2. I keep being logged out (orange banner at the top with a seconds countdown).

Is anyone else getting anything still (or even unable to use their original account?).

Has anything been sorted?

Thanks.

  • Has anyone else noted that, generally, "4" seems to be the default number of "Members are here" on any particular thread?!  Seems odd.  [To be fair, only 1 member is "here" right now]  I am used to that feeling.

  • I'm certainly considering leaving right now, as my posts are now being moderated. I don't care for that kind of micro management!

  • Well, now my comments are being moderated.

What am I supposed to have done wrong???

  • So I post some lyrics n the music thread and tehy isntantly vanish...

Some message about being on "moderation" again.

    Clearly, I rejoined too soon.

The poster who called this place an "echo chamber" didn't do it justice it's a "tuned and filtered" echo chamber.

I personally was hoping to find ways to lose a bit of my "Misery and self loathing" when I joined all that tiem ago, and maybe find others of a like mind, and I have been fighting the sort of feelings he expressed (before being censored). Negative feelings about self and others does seem to be an integral part of peoples lived experience of Autism, yet there is no mechanism to express them on a site allegedly designed for Autists?

There is a very under-used resource one of our members set up for adults. The very few posts there that are not mine seem to be of good quailty and the links to court cases interesting.

  • Spam, the original tinned meat product, was never as bad as it is often painted, not to me anyway. "Lovely Spam, beautiful  Spam." "Bloody Vikings!"

  • Ancient thread are still popping up

  • When you add someone as a friend it still forces you to write a message that they're not going to see. (Unless that has changed and they do actually see it now?)

  • Debbie, I just noticed your change of name - have you had to change your profile or use a different account?

I do have other accounts but I tried them again last night and I'm unable to use them (I get a strange message come up).

I used to use them in the past when the same thing happened (long before this 'upgrade').

So, I'm stuck as spam nowadays until I can be removed from the tin and chopped up ready for consumption.

  • Debbie, I just noticed your change of name - have you had to change your profile or use a different account?

  • Update - this one came through ok without going into the moderation black hole first, and my post that went in there last night has now been teleported into the music quiz thread.

  • Thanks Debbie, I'm trying to be patient but it doesn't come that naturally to me. I don't want to leave, so let's hope it settles down.

  • It's still slow, I'm having to refresh because only the OP comes up and not the rest of the posts and I nearly lost a reply because it took so long and almost got timed out.

  • it's very off putting and could encourage people to leave.

I'm sorry to read this and I agree.

It's rather rubbish really as I think that people are leaving because of it.

    I hope you don't.

  • At least we can see this, Pixiefox.

  • I've been put on moderation for the 3rd time since the upgrade - which never happened before - and the post I did on the music quiz last night hasn't appeared. I'm writing this at 14.42 on Tuesday, so I wonder when this one will appear?

If there are human mods checking my posts, I'd be grateful to be informed why this is happening - it's very off putting and could encourage people to leave.

  • That is odd because the Medication thread is technically in breach of the rules (although well intentioned) but has not been locked or deleted.

  • Are threads just being deleted without any warnings?

I remember that a thread of mine was locked that I was enjoying and I didn't understand why - the one about the Internet.

It's one of the reasons I left.

I think that there should be warnings 1st as there used to be and I think that if a thread is going to be locked it should be very contentious indeed, as some have been in the distant past.

I just saw one appear this morning about calling a general election and now it's gone - I didn't even get time to read it.

  • I discovered another problem with the forum yesterday.

I was writing some new stuff on my profile yesterday, and tried to include a link to another web-page; and it hasn't appeared as a link. It even asked me if I wanted to include the http:// at the beginning and, after I clicked yes, it didn't. Clicking on the 'link' doesn't do anything now.

  • Another relatively minor problem, but surely an obvious one to deal with: there's still redundant stuff such as Groups and Blog posts on our profiles. Have there ever been any groups or blogs on this forum?! Why were they ever there?!

  • Yes - I was going to reply to a post today and had to go through the Reset process to get back into my account. It’s pretty annoying and I also don’t like the new layout/look of the website.
