List of what is currently wrong with the forum

I was wondering if most people who contribute here are fine with no current problems, so I thought a list might be useful.

I'm rather despairing at the moment of its brokenness and absence of communication from NAS about a timescale (or anything) for sorting these.

It's making me wonder whether to bother any longer.

1. I know that   has a message coming up in orange at the top saying his account may/will be deleted.

2. I keep being logged out (orange banner at the top with a seconds countdown).

Is anyone else getting anything still (or even unable to use their original account?).

Has anything been sorted?

Thanks.

  • If they can’t fix the spam filter then inevitably we’ll stop using the forum. Being effectively temporarily banned every few days and receiving messages that were abusive and our accounts will be deleted simply isn’t tolerable.

I'm just poking my snout out of the house to say I agree wholeheartedly with this.

This is one of two reasons that I'm not here at the moment.

I'm finding using the forum stressful.

The forum shouldn't be a source of stress.

  • That’s exactly how I feel.

I will also note that while we’ve all been irritated by lack of contact from the mods, Pixiefox’s email suggests that they are probably having to do much more moderation work since the upgrade, which surely must be the opposite of what was intended.

So the poor mods may be as fed up as we are.

  • Now I'm going to have to Google who Hobson was.

... he was an old Victorian cobbler.

  • For any 'sad face', there will be some 'happy face' ones I'm sure.

  • Personally, I think my time here is drawing to a rapid close anyway - primarily due to PM issues and an apparent disregard and/or inability for the "powers-that-be" to communicate.....so my thoughts here - are just that - thoughts - this is not a call to arms.

People should make up their own minds and act.  I think my decision is made.

    This makes me very sad.

The 'powers that be' ie NAS itself may not even know about the problems here.

Because of the total absence of communication (directly onto this forum) by those people/person/whatever that constitutes the 'Community Manager' we know nothing.

Yes, I agree, it is Hobson's Choice.

Now I'm going to have to Google who Hobson was.

  • If I hadn't had the experience I've detailed before where Shutterstock shut down their forum, I'd be writing directly to NAS complaints.

I had just drafted out a long response.....which hung when I tried to send......and now it is lost.

SO - I can just about be bothered to retype a summary - forgive any ROUGH edges........

Debbie - This is Hobson's Choice?

Either one complains, and they might shut down the COMMUNITY forum, or one doesn't complain and the COMMUNITY forum continues to dissolve to the point that it ceases to be "community" in any sense.  This place already resembles a budget "public-advising-the-public" space for "passer-by-traffic" because ACTUAL members of an ACTUAL community either can't face or overcome the "blocking" or "privacy concerns" or, frankly, feel utter disinterest for what is often here now - or perhaps more importantly - just PURE frustration about all the uncertainty.  This is happening.

Either way, community is lost....hence why I say Hobson's Choice?

Which is the bigger risk?  Complaining - or not complaining ?

My strategy at the moment is just avoiding posting (lol - that's what I'm doing).

If anyone wants to contact them, I will quote from my earlier post.

All the best to you all in this battle to use the forum.

I'm unsure whether to send an email as I don't want them to decide that it's just not worth trying to run the forum + therefore shutting it down.
