List of what is currently wrong with the forum

I was wondering if most people who contribute here are fine with no current problems, so I thought a list might be useful.

I'm rather despairing at the moment of its brokenness and absence of communication from NAS about a timescale (or anything) for sorting these.

It's making me wonder whether to bother any longer.

1. I know that   has a message coming up in orange at the top saying his account may/will be deleted.

2. I keep being logged out (orange banner at the top with a seconds countdown).

Is anyone else getting anything still (or even unable to use their original account?).

Has anything been sorted?

Thanks.

  • I got the "Your connection is not private" message yesterday (the same one Debbie posted) so couldn't get into the community forum. I'm not sure why I could get into the main website but not the community part? I logged out but still got the same message, so I emailed the community manager yesterday evening. This morning when I turned my tablet on I'm logged back in already and able to access the community again.

    What is going on????

  • What is going on????

Their techies were able to get access to whoevers email account was registeted to receive the certificate and use it to generate the file needed to make the forums site be recognized by the internets security "police".

It is basically like an ID badge for the site that allows it to be seen as safe nd encrypted.

I think the underlying issue was that whoevers email it was registered with when it was setup has either left, is on leave or is off sick - this is the cause 9 times out of 10 for this issue in my experience.

  • Rank amateur stuff, though, Iain, isn’t it? Certs can be renewed up to 30 days before expiry with no loss of duration. The site management should be diarising renewals well in advance to ensure this doesn’t happen and a shared email box used if email is used as the domain verification path. But other paths are available so an employee being on holiday is no excuse. It could be that the cert was cancelled at short notice but all the arguments above still apply. The whole things smacks of a dysfunctional and badly operated setup.
