List of what is currently wrong with the forum

I was wondering if most people who contribute here are fine with no current problems, so I thought a list might be useful.

I'm rather despairing at the moment of its brokenness and absence of communication from NAS about a timescale (or anything) for sorting these.

It's making me wonder whether to bother any longer.

1. I know that   has a message coming up in orange at the top saying his account may/will be deleted.

2. I keep being logged out (orange banner at the top with a seconds countdown).

Is anyone else getting anything still (or even unable to use their original account?).

Has anything been sorted?

Thanks.

  • Dear Online Community Members,

Thank you for being a valued part of our Online Community. We would like to address some of the concerns raised in this thread. Below, we’ve outlined the key issues and how we’re addressing them to ensure the best possible experience for all users.

    Account Deletion
We understand there has been confusion regarding account deletion. To clarify:
    • Accounts cannot be deleted automatically.
    • An account will only be deleted if a member emails CommunityManager@nas.org.uk to request this.
We apologise for the incorrect notifications some members have received about their accounts being scheduled for deletion. Please rest assured that no account will be deleted unless you make a formal request via email.

    Spam Filter
We recognise that some posts may not appear immediately on the forum due to being flagged by our external spam filter. While we understand this can be frustrating, the spam filter is essential in keeping the community free from excessive spam content.
    To clarify:
    • The spam filter is managed externally, and we do not have control over what it flags.
    • Accounts flagged by the spam filter have not been placed in moderation. Moderation only occurs if our rules are breached, and in such cases, we always notify the user with an explanation of our actions.
If your post has been blocked by the spam filter and you’d like it approved promptly, please contact us at CommunityManager@nas.org.uk, and we’ll review it as soon as possible.

    Communication and Updates
Since we began developing the new Online Community platform, clear and transparent communication has been a priority. While we’ve aimed to manage expectations within our funding constraints, we are committed to keeping you informed. When we asked members in January 2024 to tell us what you'd like to see on our new platform, we clarified that "as we will need to stay within our budget, we may not be able to offer all functions that are suggested."
Our moderation team is dedicated to responding to your feedback, questions, and technical concerns via CommunityManager@nas.org.uk. While we aim to address every issue, we receive hundreds of emails weekly and must prioritise urgent matters first. All feedback and enquiries are reviewed daily to support users through this transition.
We acknowledge there are further developments we’d like to make but did not have the resources to implement during this first phase of the platform upgrade. We will continue to communicate any proposed changes well in advance and will answer your questions to the best of our ability.

    Contacting Us
To ensure your enquiries are addressed:
    • Please email us at CommunityManager@nas.org.uk.
    • Note that comments made on the forum will not always receive a direct response.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue improving the Online Community. Your feedback is invaluable, and we remain committed to providing you with a safe and supportive environment.

    Kind regards,
    The Moderation Team
  • Thank you for the information. I appreciate all the work that you volunteers do.
