WTAF.  Number is NOT happy.  I will cope, any/which/way.......because that is what I have ALWAYS been forced to endure - all my life.

I will simply leave this forum, if that is what seems prudent/logical for me to do.  I am alone, and always have been.   I will cope, I always have done.

But boy, do I feel SERIOUSLY LET DOWN !!!!

I had hoped that the people who run/manage this place would be more capable and/or respectful of our "special" cohort - and my life? Who commissioned these “people” who have done the tech? Were they vetted? Is ANYONE in charge of anything at the moment? Does anyone have any respect for the members here……many of whom HATE tech?   Were these factors taken into account?

I worry about the "silent majority" in these situations.  I suspect that MANY, MANY worthy autistic folk will be lost from this place because of the inept manner in which this 'changeover' from the 'old' forum to the 'new' forum has been managed and implemented.  I'm not talking out of the top of my hat here.....I have good evidential reasons for saying these things.

This is NOT acceptable.  Harm has been done.......and continues to be done at this time of writing……to precisely the type of folk who SHOULD be here and contributing at this time.

I am neither a militant, nor an unreasonable bloke............but I DO HAVE LIMITATIONS.

Someone, frankly, is not worthy of their payday for this "transitional period." [thus excusing our mainly WONDERFUL mods from this criticism.]

I am not averse to shine transparency on this (FUBAR) situation, as I see/experience it.  The following screenshot, is MY experience of the process that we are supposed to follow, which I include for reasons of transparency and clarity (as shown below as the first post to this thread – assuming that will work?)

PLEASE sort this/your SO…….you have my email if you wish to contact me directly and promptly.

  • I think that young people come and go on here.

There tends to be a core of mainly older (30+) people who, for whatever reason, have settled into this forum for good or ill.

makes a good point in that respect in the thread below.

     RE: 48 hours without oxygen

I suspect that forums are a bit 'old hat' these days and this is partly why people have left here - to join in somewhere that suits them better in format as well as content.

I agree with this - we are more used to having the information we want on a simple to access, logically laid out source as this is how we have grown up knowing the internet on general.

For some millenials and Gen Z they take all this for granted and information is always available anyway so they have turned to a more dynamic, consumeristic approach to this where the information is intended to entertain as much as anything.

This is why the likes of TikTok and Instagram Reels are so appealing to them - small, bite sized chunks of entertainment / education delivered in a constantly updating way so you always have the latest on hand.

Even with music the move is away from owning physical or downloaded albums and it is all streaming tracks now, often chosen by algorythm from a vast pool of options.

Most from this age group grew up with more information and accommodations for their autism so are better suited to coping with life anyway I believe. It is the older generations, often late diagnosed who get the most from this site so it feels the right format for them.

Just my views on the subject.
