Ultra Mindfulness

Sometimes I exerience what I can only describe as ultra mindfulness, I'm lying in bed and I'm totally aware of everything that is happening in those momments, I can feel my sheets, the mattress, how much my feet ache and how tight my calf muscles are. I'm not unhappy or feeling anything much, just being. I know there are some that would say I should be glad of reaching this state, that it's a sign of higher levels of awareness etc, but I'd like to be able to distract myself out of it to help me sleep.

Any ideas anyone?

Does anyone else experience this sort of thing?

  • I'm constantly (horribly) aware my body. The weight of my clothing, my foot moving within a shoe, the movements of my muscles and joints etc.

I try to practice mindfulness and meditation but trying to switch off or turn down the outside world is incredibly difficult, that's on top of the physical sensitivity.

    Sleep is another problem altogether.
