Waiting for report/outcome

Hi,

I had my ADOS-2 appointment yesterday and just wanted some advice on what others have done while waiting for the results, which could be up to 2 weeks. I appreciate that might not seem like a long time, but I'm driving myself to distraction worrying about the outcome and how it went yesterday.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! And likewise, how I can prepare myself in case it's a negative diagnosis as I'm worried how I'll react to that news if it's the case.

Thank you!

  • I'm still waiting for my report actually. They warned me that it might be heavily negative, or appear insulting, but it's because the diagnostic criteria are phrased in negative ways (e.g. talking a lot about "deficits" and "abnormalities"). He said I shouldn't feel bad about it, there's nothing wrong with me I'm just different, so my strengths aren't in socialising but in other areas.

  • This is similar to yesterday, I had a little bit of verbal feedback, but were insistent that they were not telling me things as faults, simply as observations. Just struggling with the wait and unknown outcome!
