Noise cancelling earbuds and headphones Suggestions

Hi there people

Does any one have any suggestions on any good and reasonably priced noise cancelling earbuds and headphones. I saw that The Range have noise cancelling earbuds for around £14. Because some are so expensive I am not sure whether to try cheaper ones first and waist the money I could have saved for the more expensive ones or go for more expensive and waist my money if there could have been cheaper ones just as good. Also it doesn’t seem right to buy them, stick them in one’s ears and if not good take them back. Also it would not be right or clean to ask a friend to try out their earbuds and stick them in my ears. I have tried friends head phones as not a stick inside the ear. They were really good at cancelling sounds.

  • Beats Solo 2 headphones are amazing, you can get them on eBay reasonably prices or try online

  • I use Bose over ear noise cancelling headphoones, which I find work quite well - I need over ear due to hearing aids.

NOt only can I use hte nosie cancelling, but I can also use them to envelope me in sounds I find more comforting.

  • I've tried different ones and got very frustrated. Not because of the noise canceling. But the in-ear ones make my ears unbearably itchy. The on-ear ones hurt my ears. And the around the ear ones hurt my head because I wear glasses.

    Can't win.

  • Thanks. Just bought some today from The Range. They were only £14. Have not tried them yet.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I would feel rude to ask if I cut put cling film around though.

  • My earplugs are Loop earplugs. They are incredible, so good. While they don't completely get rid of someone directly talking to me they get rid of most outside noise. They have a specific insertion method, but once you learn it's very doable and very effective. Highly recommend

    Seconded.

  • I have both active noise cancelling (ANR) headphones and passive noise cancelling (PNR) earplugs

My headphones are Andrea headphones, while absolutely not the best on the market, they were the ones provided on my DSA grant and they are very good. They can definitely compensate for even some very busy environments such as airports

  • I recently bought some reasonably priced noise cancelling headphones from Amazon recently. The brand is Soundcore and they were about £50 - 60. They aren't perfect in that they can't block out voices completely but they do muffle them a lot. They are excellent at blocking out low pitched sounds such as traffic, air con fans etc. To be honest I thought I was like  and was only affected by voices but it seems I was affected by the other noises more than I thought because these headphones have really improved my life. When I put them on it's like a sense of calm and immense relief! I haven't tried really expensive ones but I can't imagine that they will be much better than the ones I have. I wouldn't worry about returning ear buds or headphones that don't work for you - if they have been in your ear then they won't resell them to someone else. They should account for returns in their business plan so it's really not your responsibility to worry about. Just check their returns policy before purchasing to make sure you can return used ones!

  • I had a good look at noise cancelling headphones and earbuds, I'm told that headphones are better than earbuds, but that none of them are particulalry good at cancelling out voices. For me not having to feel like I'm living with my neighbours shouting, the woman who goes wooo and screaming kids was why I wanted them and was told that I'd be wasting my money. They might be good at cancelling other sounds, like if you live near an airport or something. I spoke to an audiologist about it when I had a hearing test and she said I'd just have to live with it, not helpful, but probably truthful,.

COuld you try wrapping a bit of cling film around the ear piece of a friends earbuds so as you can try them without the Eeeww factor?
