Cure for sensory overload

For starters, I received a late diagnosis in a craphole country with no mental healthcare at all.

I noticed that I suffered heavily with sight, hearing and smell sensory overloads. I identified them as a symptom of ASD. I had to find a cure, because otherwise I would not be able to work and have a real life.

So, I started putting myself in the most triggering situations that I could find. Loud places, riots, fights, dangerous places and so on. I kept looking for trouble (and finding it) until I managed to perform normally even in the most riotous environment. Now, I can act normally in the workplace even if I am internally screaming and wishing for death.

I was told by a bloke on the 'net that I probably caused myself some severe damage, and that I should seek real therapy immediately. Any advice apart from "seek therapy"?
