I was diagnosed with high functioning level 2 ASD about 6 months ago. I started tagging around some online and RL communities, but I quickly noticed that all the autistic spaces I interacted with are mainly geared towards the more severely disabled. Users there are totally infantilized, mods behave like nurses in an assisted living facility.
I understand that higher support people deserve to be protected, but I feel like I am living in a nursing home. Everybody tells me to "unmask", but how can I unmask if I have to walk on eggshells to avoid traumatizing some low-functioning user?
Is there any place that caters only to high functioning people? This forum is just unusable, forums and communities online are dead, and Reddit... well, it's Reddit!
I am open to suggestions

true but it's barely active.
Stop posting things that I find require a level of refutation or counterargument and I would be happy not to interact with you.

It is a public forum. If you post something, it is public and any member may respond. This is how public fora work. If you want to pick and choose who you interact with, you need to access something different. In reply, I consider you to be, if not a fool, then often wrong-headed and overly opinionated.
Your thread opener was reasonable, but your comments in response to others here are just petulant and immature.
Do your own research, seeing as you're so high functioning.
This forum lacks a "Block user" function. There is no reason to suffer fools unless you are getting paid for it.
It is somewhat biased towards US users and topics. I didn't find it very relevant or welcoming, so you'll probably love it.
Yes sorry, I’ve edited my comment.
I only read on reddit, I don’t participate. I like that it’s fast paced and constantly something new to read, I don’t like how everyone seems to get down voted for everything.
Peter has a forum.
The link is in his bio.
Asperger's & Autism Community | Wrong PlanetThis one? Will check it out thanks.
Reddit is an overflowing septic tank.

FFS.
Get over yourself.
Is this your best effort at a reply? Must try harder!

There’s the wrong planet forums, few groups on fb, and plenty of places on reddit that I know of. Personally none of them suit me. I guess it depends on what you hope to get out of an online community and finding one that fits in with you.
Apologies if I have misjudged you, but I think the way you express yourself implies that you consider yourself to be superior to everyone else. There is an air of arrogance, in my opinion, which is not an endearing trait to have.
I think that you are confusing the concept 'high functioning' and the desire to interact with 'people who think like me'. They are not the same. If the concept of 'high functioning' is accepted as valid, then I'm probably very high functioning, but I find many of your posts inimical. The vast majority of autistic people posting on this forum are 'high functioning', so you have found it.
Good luck in finding a community that is on the same wavelength as you.
Try to read the first post. I was asking if anyone knew a community more geared towards high functioning people. Maybe I should make a new subreddit

Judge Dredd said:95% of the people here are people that I would avoid in real life. I am already forced to interact with unpleasant people on the job, why should I suffer that during the leisure time, too?

You've been saying this since you 1st joined this forum.
Why do your persist posting here then?
I hate to call you a Troll and I understand that you are suffering but this does look very akin to trolling to me ...
> "Just as easily triggered"
That is the same of "being a little fragile snowflake" to me, unless we are talking about people with serious disabilities.

Well, sometimes I read the posts and I think: "My God, I hope that he is just trolling." Many discussions feel like what you would hear in the Arkham Asylum. I do not know about you, but I am not interested in interacting with deranged people.
