preparation ready to go out

My partner he don't understand I have to b prewarned if we r to go out anywhere he tells me there and then got to b ready if not going out without me his not diagnosed but I know his brain is forgetful but it doesn't help me.

  • Your partner isn't being considerate towards you when announcing something with no warning. I would absolutely detest having something sprung on me like that and it could very well trigger a meltdown.

There are so many reasons why this is bad:

    • Autistic people tend to hate interruptions, as we can be so hyper-focused on what we are currently doing.
    • There is a thing called autistic inertia, whereby we can have great difficulty transitioning from one activity to another.
    • It can also disrupt routines which are so important to many autists.
    • Plus as already stated it reduces anxiety if to know in advance what we are doing and being able to adequately prepare.
  • Exactly if not will cause a meltdown to happen.

  • I like to know what I am doing in advance too. It helps me to mentally prepare and reduces anxiety.
