Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed with Autism with an overall ADSO score of 18 (Autism threshold is 7).
I now want to apply for PIP, but I am a bit confused about the PIP Mobility Questions. I welcome comments from anyone who knows about this.
This is how the questions are set out:
NAS89889 said: when I am out and about
NAS89889 said:Cannot undertake any journey because
its this. if you answer it as even that.... you cannot say that you are "out and about"because you then have disproved that you cannot take ANY journey.... if your out and about, you have disproven it...as you are on a journey... so you can undertake a journey..just a example... the needing a person around for your meltdowns in public actually likely covers the next section of getting around aided or unaided.
im picky on english like this aha its all in the wording and meaning.
not sure about 1f....can you follow the route of a familiar journey unaided without a guide dog? loldo you remember places you have been to and are familiar with them that you know where you are?can you see the place your going?all of that seems to be 1f type of things.... 1f seems more towards someone who has some serious dementia and/or blindness.1e cant undertake any journey is still problematic as you have just said you can go out and have another person with you to help you when your distressed, so right away you have undertaken a journey anyway.
i dont really like most of the answer selection, id have to score a 0 on everything really because reading each one of them id feel like a liar. alot of them seem pointing at requiring a guide dog, and the closest one you could pick is ruined by its wording as if you say you cannot undertake any journey... and they catch you out and about undertaking a journey... well yeah theres the problem isnt it?
Yes you can get points from questions 1 and 2, it looks like you get 10 points from 1, and anything option from 2 will put you over 12 points so you should get the higher rate of the mobility component
Do you know if you're able to select more than one answer on the questions?
1C 1D and 1F to me sounds like you are unable to know where to go. From your description, it seems like you can do that but when you get into a meltdown then you need assistance to make sure you aren't hurt. Would that be 1E? Although it does not include needing assistance.
And for the second question, I would just ask yourself how far you can walk without needing assistance, and then answer that to the best fitting option.
I have no knowledge on this assessment by the way, Im just giving my best guess based on what you've said.
