Inflammation

I went to a gathering yesterday of eight 3 year olds and all the parents at a friend's house. I actually enjoyed myself which was rare for a social gathering, but my god was it sensory overload! Duhh, it was always going to be... I know...

I didn't sleep very well overnight, but have woken up with a bad gut (I won't go too far into that).

So, I was wondering, when you get overstimulated in this way do you also have an inflammatory response in any way, and how does this appear?

  • Lol. I agree.

I get sick of being the only parent who skips these things so I force myself to try, only problem is, by Monday I'm spent and usually ill, like today. At work, doing shuttle runs to the gents. Not a nice existence

  • I think anyone who can spend time in a room full of three years olds deserves a medal.

    Well done you!

    Ben

  • Thanks guys. Sorry to read of your struggles too.

Not sure what to do as this seems to happen whether I'm in a work or leisure environment, so if I'm travelling it's really problematic. Atm it is massively hampering my career options

  • Yes, I do- but I have endometriosis which is an inflammatory condition, so I think my body is sort of primed to respond this way.

For me, it shows up as cold and flu symptoms, or an increase in the frequency and intensity of my chronic pain, or both.

  • Excitement, Over-stimulation, Dread and Anxiety are all the same process neurologically and biologically. They should trigger a GABA response, the gut-brain axis.

And all the new medical studies are finally showing that Au and ADHD might, on occasion, need anti-anxiety medication, which boosts GABA (anti-depressants actually lower it) So yes, you might have trouble sleeping and it will affect your gut.

  • Hi, yes I do.

Last week I did my gait analysis which was an hour of socialising and plenty of exercise, took the whole day as we also did shopping. The next day we went out somewhere else and that took the day so on the Sunday I was what felt like burnt out. On that day I also had a very upset tummy that was most displeased with me. But I do have IBS so I'm very familiar with my gut being influenced by my brain.
