Overheard someone a few days ago use the word neurocrash instead of meltdown. I just wanted to share it, the description to me makes more sense and is a better description of how it feels.
Crash, for me, is like 'Police, Camera, Action!'
"Oh! He's crashed! He's crashed! He's crashed! He's crashed!"
Thanks for sharing, I completely relate to this!
Excellent word to describe this.
This happens to me I think it's where your brain is trying to process everything but can't quite manage it so it freezes everything while it tries to figure out what to do. My granddaughters and daughter are the same as me in that regard.

.... or even three days!
Ben
I hate that it's almost like being in a coma where time doesn't appear to move and you can't feel anything.
When you hold it in and it turns into a shutdown - staring into space for 3 hours
i think i automatically end that task after a while of getting used to a place
neurocrash
It's quite a dramatic term.... so it fits well.
When is a meltdown NOT dramatic?
Yes, this is one of my favourites:
catatonia is already the word for that though i think lol
I always think of myself as a computer, in a way that's what our brains are so a crash sounds much better than a meltdown...
When my brain freezes in an awkward social situation I always picture this happening inside my brain
I always end the process and get the hell out of there haha.
I rarely have meltdowns as an adult but I do shut down regularly - basically go non verbal and stare into space. Like my brain just stops. Neurocrash seems a very apt description of that.
Ooh I like that! I agree with you it definitely makes more sense and sounds closer to what it is like for me.
That's a very apt term and I'm going to start using it for myself as well. Thanks for sharing!
