Make myself some food that I like or order something delicious and watch something funny, this is my plan for emergencies. In a normal day, also food and ventilating to a friend. Cheerful music helps.
Make myself tea the long way - with loose tea leaves, my favourite teapot, steep for the exact correct amount of time for that particular tea, pour through a strainer into my favourite cup, adding anything extra that's necessary and drinking whilst still hot, not getting distracted by other things. The process and routine soothes me and works as a mindfulness activities to keep me focused in the present, rather than getting lost in my head. It's a little thing that just cheers me up and makes me smile.
