Hi All,There's going to be a test of the UK's emergency alert system on Sunday 23rd April, which means that most smartphones and tablets will make a loud sound and vibrate for about 10 seconds at 3pm (even if set to silent). I don't think this has been broadcast widely enough, and wanted to make sure as many people are prepared as possible!https://www.gov.uk/alerts
Just curious....have you chosen your username because you like Linden Flower tea? It's one of my favourites
Thanks for letting me know. I had no idea!
Personally I'm sick to death of this government terrorising the very people that it purports to represent, not giving a damn about communities like ours with antics like this. They started doing this three years ago now and they're showing no signs of stopping!
Thanks for the important reminder and link. I react badly to alarms, like a smoke detector. I also wonder and worry if this could be used to warn us about something awful we're not being told about.
Luckily I don't!
Not everyone will know this, as not everyone reads the or watches the news.
I for one will be making sure I am indoors at that time as think of the amount of accidents that could happen, people who turned their phone off only to hear it come back on and start beeping.
I'm dreading it!
Go to settings, search for Emergency, then disable emergency alerts by tapping the toggle.
Presumably not if it is switched off, like mine is most of the time.
Thank you. I didn't know anything about this as i don't consume any news and i'm not on anti-social media
Well I'm glad I'm not in the UK!!
What do they think is going to happen?
There is a local company that tries out its siren every first Monday of the month, with extra in September. Hate it!
Thank you for reminding us. I had forgotten! I'll leave my phone in a drawer and go in my study and play some records.
