Favourite animal

What's everyone's favourite animal?  I love hippos, they are so beautiful and round and they have such expressive faces. When a hippo is happy you can really see them smile, they really show their emotions very clearly. You can really see the pride a mother hippo looks at her baby with

Also they spray their poo at everyone which I think is pretty cool

Whats everyone else's favourite animal and why?

  • I used to be a zookeeper and they were next to the staff room. Really beautiful animals. A good piece of advice was never stand behind or to the side of them because they can literally kick out in an instant.

  • I didnt know any of that, thats really interesting!

  • That must have been incredible to actually feed them! They are so gentle and lovely

  • Same! My partner wants a dog someday and I really don't! I'm happy with our two cats. They're less demanding for attention and their fur is softer too - I don't like the roughness of some dogs fur!

  • Elephants and giraffes.  But I have a dog

  • Oh wow! That must be amazing to see. I once hand fed giraffes and that 10 minutes is one of the most beautiful memories I have

  • We have just had a baby giraffe at our zoo, you would love it. He is so cute

  • That is one of the toughest questions ever! I love all animals, they are my lifelong favourite interest I just cant choose one favourite but I am amazed by Giraffes! Their beautiful eyes, crazy long tongue, legs that look uncontrollable and of course that unbelievable neck which only has 7 cervical vertebrae! The same as me and you!  Blows my mind

  • Your question is too hard to answer Billy.

  • Dogs closely followed by cats. I bought these cat stamps in December and have been thinking about adopting a kitten ever since:

  • I adore cats too, they are so clean and beautiful, unlike most dogs which seriously assail my senses with drool and smell and their assertive demeanour

  • i love sheep. i think it's the fact they look so relaxed like nothing is going on in their heads whilst they chew all day.....and that's how i want to be...a chilled out brain and eating all day!

  • My favourite animals are orangutans and gibbons, they are my special interest !

I love how smart, kind and gentle orangutans are and gibbons are just funny little guys.

I also like other primates like lemurs and monkeys

  • I love puffins. They are so cute the way they waddle around. I enjoyed watching David Attenborough sitting amongst a group in the first of the series 'Wild Isles'.

I have a furry one I bought many years ago when we went to see them on the cliffs in Yorkshire.

  • Mine are penguins and Orangutans. The former are just so funny and interesting to watch (even had a feeding experience at Birdworld on my 50th birthday), the latter just so thoughtful and peaceful.

On the flip side I hate fish, can't even watch any underwater programs on the TV!

  • Cats! I have two real ones and a collection of over 100 cat related items - I'm not sure what it is about them that I like so much but I think it's their aloofness yet at the same time they like affection on their own terms which I relate to!

  • I adore crows too, they're amazing! Two hearts

  • I absolutely adore crows, for the level of intelligence and social sophistication they have, for example:

    - Some crows have been seen solving logic challenges with up to eight steps.

    - Crows in tokyo drop nuts onto a pedestrian crossing so that the cars will crack the nuts, and then wait for the light to go red so they can collect the nut safely

    - Whereas most birds leave the nest when able, crows often stay with their parents for a couple of years to help out with next years brood.

    - Crows are generally smart enough that they leave an area when they hear a hunter starting to shoot, which makes them difficult to control. However, hunters find that the most effective strategy is to mimic the sound of an injured crow; The crows are aware of the danger, but they'll accept the risk to try to help their friends.

    - If you regularly feed crows, they often start leaving you gifts (random shiny things they find)
