Ok so here’s a thing. We have representation of autistic people with intellectual disability in media, rain man for example. I struggle to think of any at the opposite end of the spectrum, autistic but extremely intelligent.
we have lots of people who might be said to have autistic traits, sheldon cooper, Sherlock Holmes etc. but they are never called autistic. Why is the media afraid to label high functioning autistic characters as autistic?
Are they worried about offending us? How is it alright to offend low functioning autistic people then? How is portraying us poorly less offensive than erasing us?
Actually I have found autistic representation to be in some ways better from K-dramas.
It's Okay to Not be Okay, and Extraordinary Atourney Woo, are 2 that immediately spring to mind.
I know some people do not like using subtitles but as I struggle to process voices anyway I found using subtitles opens up a lot of non-english media to me.

I watch a lot of K-Drama's too. I loved those two.
true and the good doctor was based on a k drama too. but alas it doesn't seem to be catching on in the west.
