Do your friends and loved ones know your identity in this place?

I like to fly under the radar wherever possible - less attention = less stress.

I value anonymity.  I am debating whether to share my identity in this place with my nearest and dearest.

Do the folk from these pages share their identity here with their significant others so they can be "looked up" and their posts read?

A simple Yes or No would be gratefully received, but further reasoning would be especially welcomed.

  • I think it's pretty reasonable that the answer is a straight no. Online, autistic or not, you do not know who you can fall on or their attention. I am not saying you have to be paranoid, and I mean if you can do a mix, your surname is "numbers" you could do a mix between a real name, surname, second name or last name and then create a fake other name. It would be a mix of truth while keeping your identity hidden and nobody but you would know the difference.

  • Hi Kittera - thanks for your comments, although my original question was about whether or not to deliberately tell a select few people who you are in this place - so how you compose your name would make no difference in that context.  btw - I don't have a name, I am Number.  [INSERT Wink emoji]

  • I am not sure I understand what difference that makes, in any case, don't be too quick to trust people online. I guess I did over-creative with your name. I do that a lot, but now that I look at your profile pic and I can't get any more wrong than this: can I recommend "Roquefort"?
