Mini - burnout

Is a mini burnout a thing, does anyone else have these? I feel like this is what Im going through atm. I had a really big burnout last summer so I know how they feel but last week I spent the whole week constantly filing out really stressful job applications 24/7, having phone calls with agencies and interviews over Zoom and at the end of it I feel like the symptoms of a burnout but in a smaller way. Feel kind of fragile too

Just wondered if mini burnouts are a thing cos I feel like thats whats happening to me

  • I sometimes have times when I feel like everything is too stressful and I need to hide away for a while. This often involves turning my duvet into a protective cacoon and refusing to leave my bed, or at least my flat. This occurs fairly frequently, with differing degrees of isolation, and is often a reaction to over socialising; I hibernated for nearly a week after Christmas and then again after new year's, for example. Perhaps these moments could be described as mini burnouts, but I'm not sure.

  • I get something similar. Thats why having a job is so difficult, how do I go to work when I am having one of those days

  • It's not easy. What gets me through is my inability to not stick to my word, not fulfilling commitments is a no go for me. I tell myself: OK the next x hours of work are going to be hard, but when we get home there will be a bath and a nice evening of relaxing, I promise I won't make you do anything else!

It works for me. At the end of the day, work is really the only non negotiable structure in my life. Without it, I would dissolve into a puddle of misery - this result became incredibly apparent during my, comparatively short, COVID quarantine.
