Stimming

It does sound like stimming, the child is engaging in as much of an activity as they can stand, stimming is often a bit like a pressure relief valve, while stimming it’s rhythmic and lets the brain process what they have seen or eaten,  both of these activities are sensory and can become too overwhelming. Some also people stim when happy or sad. There is nothing to worry about, as long as the child is safe , let them stim it’s quite normal. Not every autistic person stims, we are all different, for me it’s self-soothing.

You’re welcome, I’m sure you wouldn’t, never try to stop the child doing it or make them feel bad for it. I know for me, don’t try and comfort them by hugging them, it often will lead to a meltdown. Good luck, the child is most probably still building their trust up.

I would never stop them stimming unless it was unsafe. I just want to have a better understanding so I can support them. Thank you, you have been very helpful
