I got my diagnosis today!!!

I'm so relieved.

Got a message at 9am saying I would get a phone call at 10, but due to an admin hiccup it got delayed until 10.30.

She said she can give me a diagnosis and I got all confused and asked "Does that mean yes?"

Yes.

She's going to put me on the list for a post diagnostic support group, but it could be a month or two.

I knew it had to be autism, but there was still that doubt.  It's so reassuring to finally have the confirmation.

Other emotions have yet to make themselves felt, but processing is happening.

  • why are u happy about being autistic its a life of pain and suffering

  • I'm happy about getting a diagnosis which gives me a reason for a lot of pain and suffering that I have already been through. I am happy that I can now use that diagnosis to ask for changes that will reduce pain and suffering in the future. And I am happy to have found a connection with other people who have faced the same kind of challenges that I have.

I am happy that I now have an authoritive voice that I can use to guide and support other people, to raise awareness, and to be there as an advocate and role model for the autistic children that I work with, so that their pain and suffering will also be reduced.
