Autistic with autistic kids support

I am not diagnosed but I think I have asd (and my mum does too) and  my 10 year old is having a paediatric assessment soon. I'm desperate to connect with some other parents who, like me, struggle to connect with other parents but feel like they have to for their children's sake.

Yes I can imagine, you might both have competing needs at the same, particularly if your child’s sensory profile is the complete opposite of yours.

I am glad, this is what our autistic community is here for.

We have something similar local to us which we found particularly helpful in the early days when Primary School was a challenge. Being able to communicate directly to others was helpful, if only to know you are not alone. I am not aware though that any of these parents were autistic.

Since getting the diagnosis whilst at Secondary things have changed a bit with different challenges. It was also after this that I realised I am autistic. This can cause challenges, especially with finding times to be able to relax and zone out. From a perspective of an autistic with an autistic child it can be hard and this Forum has helped. Finding times to go for a walk are important as well as days off during school time.
