Favourite nuts

Cashews, hazelnuts, pecans. I think nuts are my favourite food

I once ate 500g of honey roasted peanuts after dinner. It was a rough night later. LOL

I like my nuts roasted and salted 

This time of year- the ones in the shell are so good my son actually eats them (otherwise prefers cashews). And I don’t know where Co-op source their walnuts from, but I think those are my favourites. 

Cashews are my favourites;  I love them in a simple nut-roast, alone or combined with walnuts.

Walnuts are the best! But there is literally nothing worse than a bad walnut - the bitter, horrible taste stays with you for a long time.

I'm fussy about water too. I only like it hot. Even in the summer, I seldom drink cold or even room temp water. It's just so uncomfortable, like my swallowing muscles get instant cramp from it or something. 

Before I became completely overwhelmed by the senses of eating ice cream, I used to love pistachio ice cream! I can see them working for cooking due to this. But yes, I’d have to agree. Cashews are number 1 for me. I just have to be careful of the amount I eat when I do get them. It’s so easy to just keep going!

I absolutely despise almond or anything almond and apparently that could also be a genetic thing...I like to think it is because my brain knows there is something to do with Arsenic  causing an almond smell when people die of that poisoning haha

ooo yeah pistachios are there too, but I still think cashews just about win. Pistachios win for cooking with though

I can’t believe I forgot about pistachios. I love them! I’ve been there with the biting on a shell part of your comment too…

My favourite are cashews, they are delicious.

My least favourite are walnuts, I find them extremely bitter, as does my father, but my mum and brothers have no idea what we're talking about. Apparently there's some research indicating it could be a particular gene altering how we taste particular compounds. If there is a recipe that requires walnuts (like coffee walnut cake) we use pecans instead, as for some reason they don't have the bitter flavour.

Pistachios...hardly ever have them as could probably eat so many...especially if salted tbh as salt makes them more moreish (I have low blood pressure generally so I wouldn't be too worried) but they are fun to open as well! hah! (though as a child one time I picked up one that I thought was already open, it wasn't it had a closed shell, and I popped it in my mouth, bit down, and thought I was about to break all my teeth )

Walnuts all the way!!! My Granny used to have walnuts on her table in her front room and used to throw them down at me when I went over. 

For me, it would have to be cashews and peanuts. To be honest, I'll eat most nuts, although am not so keen on walnuts as I find the taste of them to be a tad bitter. When I was a child, I would always end up giving my dad the walnut from the top of a Walnut Whip.

Walnuts!!! Pecans are a second. But I cannot have the Legume in the bunch, which is not a nut, the Peanut.

Most nuts are actually Seeds or Drupes. Only the Chestnut, the Hazelnut and the Acorn (which humans can in fact consume!I) are True Nuts. Then there's the Peanut. The outsider - a BEAN. And guess what, The coffee bean and cacao bean? These are SEEDS!!!

These botanical properties are incredibly important if you have allergies. Xx 

I gave up eating nuts because their fiber and fat content is too high for my system to handle (yes, I tried the whole "eat high fiber and you'll get used to it" thing, for several years, but it never improved). I used to like peanut butter. Now I feed peanuts to the squirrels instead.

I have strong opinions about water. It should be room temperature, never sparkling, and definitely not iced. Tap water is fine unless it's one of the areas of the country where it's really hard and leaves flaky bits in your tea.

I find that I can’t physically swallow nuts, I can chew them for ages but just can’t swallow them.

Cashews. Though I just realised I’ve been inexact in guesstimating portion sizes and will be using scales from now on. No wonder I lose weight so slowly 

I like all nuts.  When I eat too many I get indigestion.

Cashews, love them shame about the price.

Hazelnuts, I share mine with the local squirrels.

Pistachios, l make a mess on the streets with the shells.

Walnuts, I love cracking them and digging out all the bits.
