Possible autistic child

Hi I’ve been reading up autism and think maybe my daughter is on the spectrum . She’s 15 yrs old and for the past 2 yrs she’s gradually withdrawn socially and is none existent at school anymore . She cannot mentally allow herself to physically go to school and how as a parent do I make her if make is the right word . We have contact with school who just seem to be interested in her attendance nothing more . She doesn’t know why she won’t go and says there’s no bullying or anything sinister she just sits in her room 24/7 and only comes out for food . Need help but just cannot find any doctor says they are limited due to her age she’s also a angry child any advice would be welcome thanks

  • Hi my daughter is going through the same thing. She left school age 15 last year and didn't go back. She couldn't cope with the noise or the social aspect of it. The school were meant to put her on the pathway at 13 but never did it. Because she could mask most of the time they didn't feel she was autistic and I'm pretty sure they just could not be bothered to help. I went to cahms directly last year and had a meeting. They agreed to put her forward for assessment. Unfortunately she's been waiting nearly a year already. I called the other day to see how long it would be and they said it would be another 2 and half years because of the delay with covid. She cannot go to college because it is too much for her. She stays in her room most of the time also and only comes down for food. She cannot work because noise and people make her too anxious. She's a very intelligent child but I havent found anyone to help me. I would advise you ring cahms yourself and ask to be seen.
