Possible autistic child

Hi I’ve been reading up autism and think maybe my daughter is on the spectrum . She’s 15 yrs old and for the past 2 yrs she’s gradually withdrawn socially and is none existent at school anymore . She cannot mentally allow herself to physically go to school and how as a parent do I make her if make is the right word . We have contact with school who just seem to be interested in her attendance nothing more . She doesn’t know why she won’t go and says there’s no bullying or anything sinister she just sits in her room 24/7 and only comes out for food . Need help but just cannot find any doctor says they are limited due to her age she’s also a angry child any advice would be welcome thanks

Parents Reply Children
  • Hi thanks for the reply our gp seemed reluctant to be involved with someone under 16 which I found ridiculous and he advised us to talk to school and a school resource called camhs. School only seem interested in her attendance not the reasons for her absence and so we await this camhs help service where it will lead who knows . I feel she needs to be assessed by some sort of professional but nothing seems to be happening at all . This all started during covid I believe although in hindsight there were problem signs we should of picked up on before covid but two working full time parents and ridiculous working hrs maybe some of it is our fault for not been there and occupied with daily life . We have experienced the meltdowns every Monday morning and we are not willing to put her through that anymore no way just feeling there is no help or anyone that understands what’s going on .
