Dangerous Interventions, What Can We Do to Stop Them?

All over social media platforms I keep finding “cures” for autism being advertised with testimonials by parents that could be lies for all we know.

Another one showed up on my screen last night called “Stem Cell Therapy”, there’s no scientific evidence or medical research behind these interventions each time I research them, but there is evidence from past and present research that these interventions can cause great harm. That’s obviously why they share personal testimonials instead of medical evidence.

There’s numerous parents promoting and recommending these therapies all over autism forums, a friend contacted me and said parents in his FaceBook group keep bringing up “The Nemechek Protocol” which also has no evidence or medical research behind it. It’s surely dangerous to just go performing interventions on children which have no evidence to support their claims, is there anything we can do to expose to the public these “cures” are dangerous, and some even potentially life threatening?

I’m so concerned about the children who these may be used on, especially as some can be purchased from Amazon.

  • I feel this. The word 'Intervention" is repulsive.

I've been connecting with a university with an aim to completely overturn or at least seriously disrupt the "autism industry". The problem, as I see it, will be running up against corporate nonsense - a lack of accountability in not only producing cheap non-human-friendly materials (including food), but also in this mass hypnosis through advertising. I'm not sure I have enough money, add, I also have to work full time and have just become wildly behind schedule sidetracked by research.

Corporations have gotten away with manufacturing cheap and harmful volatile compounds in their scents, poisoning water sources, genetically modifying food, not limiting the decibel level on appliances (hand dryers exceed the decibel limit of harm to human ears in one use), and so on. Does anyone find it amazing absolutely no laws have gone into effect as of yet now we've discovered micro particles in our RAIN water?? Literally - no production is halted, not on plastic water bottles, which can be replaced with glass, not a pause button on manufacturing polyester clothing.

On top of it think of the money which has gone into advertising, creating a mass hypnosis of unreasonable expectations by using NeuroTypcial psychology and individual Data. While yes, some "tribal secret codes among NeuroTypicals" have always created a difference, but it's currently at a state of interpersonal exchange which has never before existed.

The Diagnostic has expanded and, (not so) mysteriously, can only be given by a psychologist. Why? They're the only ones who are provided with the logic (or formulas) to understand different perceptions and thought!! This kind of critical thinking used to be taught in school.

There are Laws of Nature which help the therapist critically evaluate the difference between a sociopath, who can empathise with NT and uses their systems-thinking to try and dominate Verses the Autistic who's not relating/connecting and isn't quite 'following the rules' but also isn't clever enough to rebel /dominate, just a little mess of awkwardness. But if this therapist is NeuroTypical (or Neurotic), then it takes them MUCH longer to work out the complexity. What that translates to is time and in this society, time is money. There are so many things here which demand change.

We are paying extra because you cannot understand. We are paying extra to be removed from data streams - when the individual should be protected. And we are paying extra to undo the damage unaccountable corporations should not be allowed to do in the first place. I am personally furious. (Welcome to my intensity). Greta is on the right path.

  • Had to google Nemechek protocol... Yet another address the gut to "cure" autism thing...grrrr

Totally agree, a) autism doesn't need curing b) we still don't understand our brain/gut relationship well enough to give much credence to any if this anyway.

Energy would be better focused on trying to understand why we tend to have gut problems and trying to address that just for our physical comfort.

Personally, a comfortable gut I would welcome, but I doubt anything which achieves that would make anyone less autistic. After all, for all we have a bigger propensity to poorly guts, there are autistic people without digestive problems and NT people who likewise suffer with IBS and such.

I am guessing that for all there may be a correlation between bowel problems and autism, there is unlikely to be causation. But, we have no real understanding so why market these things as a "cure"?

And yes, some of these things might be harmful, either physically or psychologically. Even if this diet proves to be nutritionally harmless, these parents are speaking volumes to their kids about how they don't want them to be who they are.
