Has any one else here ever has that exact phrase said to them on multiple occasions in their lives?

I'm with Dawn on this one. I've been told I make others "head/brain hurt", I'm over-analysing, reading too much into a thing, pedantic, making things more complicated than they need be, and so on. What really got me was the line "over-thinking" SO MUCH SO that I spent years trying to work out why someone would say that/ After all, thinking gives me great joy. It keeps me safe, it makes life better. At some point, I would respond with "I just don't think you're thinking enough". Until it made sense that what Over Thinking actually means is "rumination without resolve".
Non-Autistics might not actually have the ability to make connexions and engage in proper analysis. OR they might not care, after all, it doesn't serve the NT population to appear contrary...
Yes this has been said to me a lot. In the area that I live people use the word ‘deep’ in the context of “you deep things too much” “stop deeping it” basically meaning that I think too deep into things so essentially overthinking. I’ve also been told I think too negatively and that I am pessimistic.

That's a groovy descriptor you have written there. I recently came across the word "omnific" that I am finding useful when describing my way of thinking about problems. I do hope that people don't mis-ascribe the meaning to think that I am calling myself God-like !
Yes, all my life, especially when I manage to fill in the gaps revealing truths people didn’t want to see.
It’s just those of us autistic have thinking minds instead of social minds that we see the things that others can’t see. There’s more than one kind of intelligence, while nonautistic people may score higher marks in standardised tests (crystallised intelligence), we are better at what’s called “fluid intelligence” which is far more useful than scores on useless and unrealistic standardised tests.
Yes, all of the time. It's a blessing and a curse. Everything is analysed to the nth degree. This gift has enabled me to excel in a specific area of employment. This curse has also meant that I can rarely just enjoy and appreciate things for how and what they are.
Yes. Take no notice. The real problem with this world is that most people think no further than their next night in the pub or fortnight on the beach getting drunk. Think away. We'd live in a better world if everyone gave the thought to things we do.
I get that too. I actually think my overthinking could prevent problems in the future and ensure we give a good service.
Yes. I had one boss who was always saying I was "overthinking" things too.
I get this a lot. My home team say it all the time, like only the other night I rang them as I was distressed and the woman said you do too much thinking. Try to stop.
Not helpful at all. My parents say it too and even my psychologist. I'd like to see them have autism, anxiety and schizophrenia and not think much.
Yes, though only when I'm analysing something that the person who made the comment might not want so much detail about. When I do it and it's well received then it's less likely to be mentioned. I put my overthinking in writing to someone yesterday and when they took the time to reflect on what I said, they told me I am very perceptive and able to understand their point of view. Our verbal interaction hadn't gone so well...
Have you a passport and do you live anywhere near the Midlands?
I may have a trip to Holland coming up in the next few months. (ferry a car, come back on a plane).
I could probably keep you out of trouble, whilst you look around... I've only ever really enjoyed and felt safe in Amsterdam once in all of my trips. But it is a fasicnating place, full of interstingness & Art & shops and interestmg lookng people, etc. I'm not sure I'd ever want to live there.
Thanks for the compliment.
lol that made me chuckle
Don't worry about it.......you think too much ! lol
