I want to change my meds

My GP has me on setraline and I've been taking it for 2 months. My GP is on holiday and is back at the end of August. I don't want to speak to another doctor. He gave me setraline due to my anxiety, but I've been having suicidal thoughts at night. I've found myself Googling 'painless suicide'.

What medication can I suggest to my GP that will make me feel good? I've read that adderall makes you feel ok. I'm pretty sure I have ADHD as I can't concentrate.

  • The sertraline could be causing the suicidal thoughts. They are one of the SSRI antidepressants which are known to do that in some patients. I think autistic individuals are more likely to experience non standard responses, as they have not been tested on autistic brains.

Years ago I was prescribed Citalopram (another SSRI) for anxiety and I started having suicidal thoughts after I had been taking them a couple of months. After a further few weeks these thoughts were constant, persistent and intrusive. I wouldn't risk leaving it until the end of August and would stop taking them straight away.

As stated above they are unlikely to help the anxiety anyway. In my case they made it worse and nothing would persuade me to start taking them again.
