Starting new college

I am starting a new college in august and I am feeling anxious about it.I am worried that If I don’t mask that no one will like me. Should I tell people that I’m autistic and be myself and stim or do I try to fit in to seem normal and not say anything. Any tips on this would be helpful

  • Hiya,

Good luck with college. what are you going to be studying?

i started 6th form and masked the whole time which ended in me feeling very low and having no energy to get the work done. i told the people around me about my diagnosis and it really helped. and now i have my group of friends who are really accepting that sometimes i don't wanna talk and just want to hide under a table.

So i would advise that you tell the people around you. especially teachers as that means they can make exceptions in class (not asking you for answers in front of the whole class)

P.S. happy to chat further, if you want to private message me.
