Asperger's frustration

I have just been to see the GP and I feel a bit frustrated about how it went. It was not the same Dr I normally see as she was off sick. I just don't think I connected. It seems to happen alot that:

  1. I find it hard to express myself,
  2. the person doesn't seem to have insight,
  3. the resposibility then falls on me to explain and understand myself even more,
  4. that is difficult,
  5. Repeat the above steps....

  • Lets be honest a lot of our autism health issues are just fixations, like routines and over expanding the mind into an issues so the small issue causes stress and anxiety to us over time and mind expansion(worry, attachment, thinking). The fixations is type of control, so when we have to drop or discuss the fixation which has been expanded we get stressed and can not contact with the other person because our fixation level is too high, so in our expanded mind state we believe they will never get the level of understand, because it is our protective obsession not theres, so we get angry, annoy that they not understand us..  So our Fixation, routine, OCD, expanding mind issue causes stress and anxiety.

  • Cheers :) - its feels better to just know that other people have the same experiences :)

I think that sometimes people just look at me and think 'whats the problem' and  'you seem normal' - just making assumptions. I think they expect me to somehow 'look Aspergers'.

  • Hi Jon

I have the same problems. Not with Doctors (they are scary, I never go visit them unless I have to) although I do not talk to anyone unless I have to. But more with well everyone I know! Teachers/staff/pupils at collage, cadets and staff at cadets, Staff at young people at other youth groups I go to. Basically everyone anywhere I go. Well, that's not quite true. Their is a autistic society near me which I go to-they understand!

I just thought it would help to know that your not the only one and I have major problems with communication. Often I can't even communicate and say I cant communicate so people do not realise I have something I want to say. Which just then repeats as it does with you.

Any questions feel free to ask though.
    Amy

  • My doctor says I'm the only person he has dealt with that has Aspergers so find myself teaching him about it. He doesn't know how to help me so I have to find that out too!
