Monotropism - autistic attention tunnels

Yes, I could make a post about the Zoom Aucademy social group. I am excited and very much looking forward to joining next week. It will be really nice to be part of an all autistic social group.

If you don’t feel comfortable or feel self conscious using your voice on Zoom, you can always use the chat box or just listen and absorb information- that is participating. Aucademy value all forms of participation- including just being there.

 I initially didn’t like using Zoom, but I have become acclimatised now.

Consider Zoom (only if you want to, of course). The autistic only social group could be great.

It would be interesting to hear how that goes. Hopefully you enjoy. I have a bit of trepidation about Zoom, as I don't like to inflict my 'orrible boat race (and voice) on people when I don't have to. Though they do seem flexible on that stuff, which is part of the point I suppose!

Yes I love the intro to the videos too - very calming.

There are new videos every week but some are more interesting or relatable than others- it depends on the mix and passion of the people.

 I regularly watch the videos too, it’s the highlight of the week.

Did you know Aucademy also run social groups on Zoom? I have just joined.

I regularly watch their vids now but some speak to me more than others. This one will have my full attention. I love their musical jingle at the start - its so welcoming and gentle.

Thanks so much for flagging this video - I hope to get listening later. ‘Attention tunnels’ is a great phrase for something I definitely experience continually, and, especially of late, sometimes distressingly
