Who else has or does Copy other people

I have copied people so I look more mainstream.
The first time is when I was 7 years old. I couldn't read or write, so I watched how other children read all the books. Before long I had memorised all of the books.

when the girls played skipping or the clapping games I was not coordinated enough.

the girls didn’t include me in play they used to say, “don’t ask her she can’t skip, she’s know good at playing”. So I played on my own I felt more comfortable that way.

There have been many times I’ve copied others.

Parents
  • I think we copy to fit in. I can’t say I did it specifically, or with any real knowledge, it just happened. Might be wearing current trends as a teen, or liking a band because I thought I should, as everyone else did. It was a strange time growing up!
As an adult, I do find myself copying certain things people say, and saying them in the same capacity should the situation arise. Only at work though, not at home. It’s all about masking isn’t it. Mimicking to ease communication barriers and social appearances.

  • i find this quite interesting Catlover, as I do this all the time in work as well. I find myself copying what people say and how they say it. sometimes it can be quite embarrassing, as, if there is a pause in the conversation I have ended up saying exactly the same  thing that the other person ends up saying at the same time as them. it then kills the conversation dead.
