putting yourself under preassure to be 'normal'

Hi I am a 52 yo man, and have only been self/GP diagnosed yet after finding out about ASD 3 years ago. I have always had two parts of my brain my ASD side and my 'normal side. I say normal as that part seems to tell me what it thinks a normal person would do. It is mostly right but it seems very extreme and lacks any idea that humans fail.  I have had lots of problems over the last couple of years and have suffered two meltdowns, last one in November. Then in March I lost my job, got a new one straight away. However I quit yesterday as I could not handle it. I am now really trying to switch my 'normal side' off as it is giving me lots of anxiety. Am I the only one to have a brain like this?

  • I used to mask to look normal so exhausting and my autistic traits show through anyway I just be myself never act normal coz u want to b normal I had to take a long time to accept myself and u learn to understand more by educating about the autistic brain showing u what u can cope with and strategies to get through life. As for the job world they need to be patient with asd people they think u have a normal brain nooo we process slower and learn slower even though we get there eventually if people take notice our needs so many autistic people wouldn't b out of work all I got told is can't cope only coz they ignored what my brain couldn't cope with. Important our needs need to b met by everyone to understand 5he aspergers brain.
