1800 Seconds on Autism Podcast

Does anyone listen to this podcast? I recommend it, it can be quite funny. Robyn and Jamie are really great autistic hosts.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

  • Hi, I’ve listened to them and found the topics really interesting. The one with the man who was diagnosed at the age of 72 was heartbreaking, he also had severe dyslexia. The teachers treated him as rubbish, they made him spend the lessons standing in the rubbish bin which only cemented his own thoughts that he was worthless. I’m thankful society has changed its attitude. Another good podcast is by Sara Gibbs it’s called Aut-hour, she interviews autistic authors.

Are you referring to the episode with Peter Street? I have not listened to that episode fully. The way he was treated in school was  awful, he was just misunderstood. He shouldn’t have had to wait so long to understand that he was autistic, but at that time there was  very limited knowledge/language to describe being autistic. Also previously dyslexia was mistakenly thought to be related to intelligence.

    Thanks for your other recommendation.

I agree the podcast is really interesting, it depends on the guest that is interviewed.

  • Yes, that’s the episode, it’s called ‘My days are never the same’. He’s quite a remarkable man.
