Explaining or describing tiredness after socialising

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question from me linked to the tiredness I feel after socialising or conversing with people. I need a significant time to recharge and after being involved in this forum for a little while now, I can see that I’m not alone in this (a recent revelation of sorts for me). If you too experience this, how do you describe it/ explain it to others who simply cannot relate? I recognise that it is part of who I am and so do my loved ones, but for people who I’m friendly with, I’d quite like to have the words available to describe this a little to make it more relatable.

Thanks in advance.

Also, I’ve attempted to be more concise than usual here and I am somewhat concerned that I haven’t been clear enough in what I’m describing/asking, so I’d be happy to clarify if needs be.

  • I so relate. Talking to people is exhausting, feel like I've just ran a marathon after a conversation. I don't really know how to explain it other than it zaps away all my energy. I told my mum that and she understood but she understands how I talk so that may not help you sorry.

  • I appreciate your reply- thanks. No need to apologise either. I can entirely understand the notion of feeling like you’ve ran a marathon, in fact I think I’ve used this exact expression before!

It is good to have someone who understands your way of speaking, I’m fortunate in having some supportive people in my life too.
