Do you work?

Do you work, or study, or just do things around the house?

I'm jobless at the moment. But I am looking for work but I failed at school and have nothing to aid me getting a job. The idea of working makes me so nervous but surviving without income looks hard, and in time I want my own family one day so I need to be able to provide.

I was looking at studying but I'm too nervous and I'm not very good at learning which I guess is why I failed school.

So at the moment I'm just doing things around the house and am trying to better myself Slight smile

  • Hi :) what activities do you like and what interests do you have? Maybe you could study or work in an area related to those?

  • I like to cook and bake things and have thought of doing that professionally but I read up on it and it's very fast paced so I don't think it would do me a lot of good.

And thanks Ann I'll look into things, maybe studying might be a good way to go now. I'm a bit different now to a few years ago and like you said it's different to school so I might do a lot better. Not sure what I could study though. Roy says about working with animals, could study into that as I do love animals a lot!

  • Lots of bakers are self employed, don’t have to look very far on Facebook to find people baking from their kitchens and selling the goods (still have to be registered with the council for food hygiene etc) then you can take on as much or as little work as you want rather than having someone dictating how fast you need to work in a restaurant. Quite a lot of volunteering opportunities available with animals at zoos and sanctuaries if you have any nearby. It’s a good way into jobs even if you don’t have an animal management degree

  • Many colleges do food related courses of various kinds - might be worth looking at what is available locally to you. Or maybe an apprenticeship somewhere?
