Autism therapy

I am looking for therapy that I will be privately funding. I'm wondering if you could recommend any services that offer therapy for autistic adults with OCD on a long term basis, particularly if it's based in South East England. I will be using zoom or another online platform.

  • In South East, you could try Priory in Woking or Southampton? I suppose it's on the cusp of SE/S... They can be a bit hit and miss though, some of their Dr's are a bit med happy, but if it's the therapy services. Although again, those can be hit and miss, and it is a bit pricey as you don't just pay the therapist, your also paying the Priory's cut. I went to them 10 years ago when I was struggling to get anywhere with the NHS. I'm still with them.

I would NOT use betterhelp (an online therapy service you may have heard of) the accreditations of their therapists are a mixed bag from proper accreditation to accredited by "the University of Curacao" (OK that's been made up - I used Curaçao as they issue gambling licenses to offshore casinos...). Also, you have to sign up, before they will even try to match you with a therapist. I.e. £45/week if you are on benefits (I only mention as I am) for a session every couple of weeks. And presumably you are paying for the first appointment to get to know if the counsellor is for you. But you don't get to choose I don't think, I think they literally match you.
