Mental health nurse

Hi, I'm currently seeing a mental health nurse whilst I wait for my diagnosis but I'm just not 'gelling' with her.  The advice she gives I've heard it all before and it just isn't helping with the anxiety or the depression.  Can I ask have any of you ever asked for a different practitioner?  I just don't know how I go about it and I don't want to seem ungrateful.

Any advice would be very welcome.

  • They tend to give out NT advice which isn't always suited to autistic people, you could ask for another but they might offer the same advice.  Anxiety and depression aren't really solved by a bit of advice, it usually takes a lot more than that.  I've had limited support from different mental health professionals over the years so turned to self-help books, I would prefer more than that but it would mean paying for private therapy, especially for my social anxiety.  Mindfulness works for me with anxiety, as I get a break from it, and it helps a bit with depression.
