Vegetarianism

Hi!

I've tried going vegetarian before but I can't seem to stick to it.

Could anyone link or list benefits? Physical, environmental, etc.

I can't go vegan due to my eating disorder, so vegetarianism is my only option.

Can you recommend good veggie foods too please?

  • fake fish curry? I swapped fish with fish substitute from Infinity Foods to make fish curry for my vegan friends, it worked

  • halloumi burger? potato chips? carrotslaw? harrissa sauce?in burger?

  • fish? sweet potato? peas? lime? chilies?

  • all beans are no go?

  • Thank you very much for the suggestions!

My problem is I'm very fussy with food, I have taste, smell and texture aversions. Hate chick peas, tomatoes and tomato sauce, eggs, etc. Thank you though!

I will just have to stick with veggie pasta and quorn nuggets hahaha

  • tip to stop hunger for few hours, making it easier to restrain oneself to 3 meals a day is to design meals so they contain at least 30g of protein, it is about 5 boiled eggs, or 3 tinned mackarel in tomato sauce from ALDI, tiny tins

  • my and my vegan friends love it, serves 4

I had to crop original photo a lot to make it less than 1Mb

  • Pear is another fruit widely recommended by experts.

  • Unfortunately I am very allergic to apples! Haha thank you though!

  • apples ---- they release an enzyme which makes u feel full  so if u want to eat less then eat as many apples as possible

  • The very reason I do as little as possible in the healthiest way possible.

Muesli is great for energy with either water or no-sugar coconut milk. I put some berries in mine that i got from blackberrying in my urban locality away from traffic.

  • Have you tried Richmond vegan/veggie sausages? They’re incredible!

my trouble is I’m very picky so lots of veggie options aren’t as appealing to me as a nice chicken nugget! However, quorn crispy nuggets are amazing so I should probably buy more of those.

pasta + vegetables is always a safe bet, I agree!

  • I used to love cooking but recently the thought of having to think of meal ideas, cook them And then clean up is so overwhelming!

I end up getting takeaway all the time and not many places have very good veggie options.

now that I’m going back to dance classes I think I will try to cook more. I’ll feel more energetic and less lethargic with better food in me I think!

    thanks for your suggestions!

  • Last week i found a cheap cabbage, quartered it, hearts on (delicious) steamed it and ate that as the the main part of a meal. Delicious.

  • i have tried before as well but like you I havnt been able to stick to it

Glamorgan sausages are very nice veggie options, they have cheese and leek in them so quite filling

I really like Aldi spicy bean burgers, they are lovely

Aubergines are a good meat substitute in cooking. beacuse they have the same texture as meat you can replace almost any meat ingredient with aubergine. Aubergine lasagne is particularly nice

Veggie pasta meals are always a good option

You can make a nice cauliflower curry as well

  • I manage by eating as little meat as possible. I will buy meat if it is good value (within a certain quality) from the bargain last use by date section. Chucked in the freezer. I mainly do beans, pulses, carrots, peppers, onions and green veg. Potatoes once in a while but i don't like to eat too much starch however tasty it is.

I have 1 giant pan to make batches of food, let it cool, portion it out, cool in fridge for 3 hours then into freezer for whenever.

Everything goes into my one pan. I can cook so methods don't need to be gone through for what is essentially a slow cook with the lid on (to preserve nutrients) on a light heat for a few hours until the pulses have gone soft. I vary it with seasonally cheap veg. Turnips are out right now and potato and turnip mash with butter is delish.
