Starting hobbies and not finishing

  • Before I start, i think that I may have Hugh functioning autism but have never been diagnosed.

I have some hobbies that I still do or have done for a number of years when I was able to get to a class, but I seem to start some new things, do them for a while and then just cannot seem to put in anymore effort. Like I am interested in Japan and Japanese novels, films and series depending on the genre, so I started learning Japanese and thoroughly learnt most of the katakana symbols (got really into it) but then stopped. I learnt italic calligraphy but really needed to do a lot of work to get better, but I haven't bothered to carry on. I also started learning modern calligraphy, but only learnt a few lower case letters then gave up. I also started (paid for) an online yoga teacher training course and worked through a portion of it before not bothering anymore.

I don't like the fact that I have started these things and not bothered anymore, but I don't have the will power or motivation to pick them up again.

I wonder why this is?

Is anyone else like this?

  • It's all about the flow. At first you will not have any success or you know the 'Extraordinary Results' you keep thinking that way and you will struggle to even stay interested in for long. Do one thing when you pick up a hobby next time, set goals and try to stick with them. Download material for that hobby or skill for example download video tutorials on coding if you are into it. Watch other people do awesome *** within that same hobby and be motivated. Keep experimenting with what you learn from time to time. And above all know that it's the amount of hours that counts how good you are at something.
