Calling all music makers

Dear Autism Community,

I hope you are all well!  I'm looking for music makers!

I am looking to find music makers who have autism (self-dianosed or formal) and I would like to interview you (or.someone you know) about how you make music and your processes.

If you would like to be interviewed, it will be with me on zoom for 1 hour and I would compensate you for your time, 15 pounds amazon voucher or you can also do it for free!

I am writing an essay, and after a certain amount of interviews I want to analyse the similarities, or themes which emerge.  It is informal research with a view to using the information learned in some way to help everyone (neurotypical and neurodiverse music makers) in the future.

I have a ethics form that would be filled out and the participants will remain anonymous if desired, but they can also use their name if they want and be featured..

About me, my name is Andrew, 39 years old  from England. I have self-diagnosed high-functioning autism.  I have been on a waiting list now for 2 years for a formal NHS diagnosis- still waiting for that.

I have been making music for 15 years or so and it provides me with a lot of joy. I also have a masters degree in Music, and autism awareness level 2 qualification .

I want to gain knowledge from like-minded people and use this information to push us forward !

It is quite a fun session where you may also.learn a lot about your own music making process. So if you would like to be interviewed please reply on here or email me [removed]

I don’t anticipate that there are any risks associated with your participation, but you have the right to stop the interview or withdraw from the research at any time.

• the interview will be recorded and a transcript will be produced
• you will be sent the transcript and given the opportunity to correct any factual errors
• the transcript of the interview will be analysed by (Andrew Brown researcher) as research investigator
• any summary interview content, or direct quotations from the interview, that are made available through academic publication or other academic outlets will be anonymized so that you cannot be identified, and care will be taken to ensure that other information in the interview that could identify you..

I look forward to hearing from you!

Andrew
