Went back to church for the first time since last March this morning. I managed to get as far as the entrance hall where I proceeded to cry through the entire service, went into complete meltdown mode.
3 people tried to talk to me but I was completely non verbal, so much so that I couldn't tell them to leave me alone. As soon as it finished I left, didn't say a single word.
So embarrassing.
I know a lot of people have been complaining of the treatment of religion over the past while. It is fashionable to be anti-religious these days, but the Scottish judge Lord Braid found places of worship had been illegally discriminated against over the lockdowns. I've always joked that they should meet in the large supermarkets - under the current rules they seem to be able to do whatever they want. I understand the panic from being shut out of society for so long. The patronising comments from the authorities don't help. scottishlegal.com/.../outer-house-judge-finds-closure-of-scottish-churches-disproportionate-interference-with-human-rights
i left my religion of birth some time ago.
But I still value the work and role of the Churches in the UK. I even value the role of religion to truly religious people.
As long as there is separation between state and religion I have no problem with religion/churches.
I agree with your comparisons made to supermarkets.
