More Noise Ahead

Just found out that this proposed new HS2 highspeed rail link is planned to pass within 500 yards/metres of my house. We are already set to get the biggest freight terminal in Europe, and I have some trouble with the existing low frequency noise from the motorways. Frown

  • I think that I am like a snail with a shell. I am an introvert, so I am noise averse, and like the quiet life. My shell protects me, but the outside world crushes it and leaves my sensitive head with no protection from the constant barrage of cacophonous sound.

Car noise is the worst. My parents never owned a car, we always travelled by train. Car noise makes me very stressed, and as my flat is on a busy street, it is driving me mad. I don't like the idea of ear-plugs (risk of wax compaction and infection, as well being uncomfortable and expensive), but am thinking about purchasing a white noise generator. White noise blocks out background noise and is calming.

  • Yes, I hope so..

    1) thanks for that idea I have downloaded some info.

    2) This is what I would most like to do but I am unable to afford it.

    3) Frown not near a train station.

I did hear a radio programme about car production where they we saying that instead of eliminating noise they could produce the kind of noise the customer wanted such as a roary engine noise for those that like to sound powerful. I shouted at the radio let him listen to a roary engine through headphones instead of inflicting it on anyone nearby.

When I came here there were open spaces around but gradually each one has got built on with something.  I wonder if "the system" produces the wrong sort of counsellors where building things gives them a sense of power and control, though to be fair there are counsellors that oppose projects as well.

  • that is surely a long-way off yet..,

1.) You can get decibel glass fitted to your windows as a solution, this the same stuff that is used in houses over flight paths.

    2.) move house

3.) watch house prices go down if you are not next to a station, or up if you are.

P.S I swear to god, they deliberately make noise pollution in society, fridges, tv, pylons, hoovers and vehicles(trains, planes and automobiles),. it must be to keep society on edge.

Time to move out,, I say and go and live somewhere quieter,, autism island.
