Moving/life changes

Hi I’m 24 male undiagnosed but I am going to seek diagnosis soon. I’m going through a lot of change right now and I’m finding it so overwhelming. I’m transitioning from university to going into work, while also moving to a whole other city to a new place. I’m finding it really tough and had a big meltdown yesterday where I just felt like I’m so out of control of everything happening and the changes in routine are really stressful to me and giving me so much dread and anxiety. I felt exhausted this morning. Everyone around me is telling me I must be happy and excited but I just feel such fear and that everything is out my control.

Does anyone have any tips about changes in life like moving house, getting a new job etc and how they managed the situation? Thank you.

  • Hi,

I was really surprised to find out that moving house is right up there on the top 5 'most stressful life events' list...

A couple of times I had the chance to gently move stuff between places over a week or so and sort of merge from one to the the other. I get  that in the real world this is quite a luxury but if you have the option ...

I found that there were different types of 'helpers' available - and I needed both: there was the actual doing - physically moving - but then also some people that I didn't even want them to lift a finger, just be there with me while it was happening (and have a beer of course) and just help me 'be' while all the chaos was going on.

I think the easier times were when I "grew" some comfort in the new place in advance.
