here is some research on autistic burnout
what are your experiences of an autistic burnout ?
what are the symptoms you experience before, during, and after your burnout ?
How long do they last ?
What do you think causes them in your case ?

I don't know if it's *autistic* burnout specifically. But I do feel quite burned out and jaded by social (or rather anti-social) interactions on the internet. That's mainly why I'm here.
I also find when I'm doing something for too long (I.e. typing) I just have to stop. Maybe that's the same kind of burnout that P and violetdr3amer described in this thread. Idk.
Yeah agree, and mortality rate is 10 yrs! Last thing they said is "wait and see" ! Lol If wasn't cyclical version i would have probably had one of the biggest causes when left-stroke. Cos it is impossible to lose weight with(more u try, more hormones pump out!),how most are diagnosed. Think some of problem(as with my hypothyroidism),is that it's mostly affects women(and old boys club of NHS even worse with conditions that mainly affect women!).
Thanx Aidie, hoping cos dealt with in better hospital miles away, will actually pick it up. Last time it said it is maybe showing a tumour but they not sure. Now with a Cushings team-but when first person i meet says "so ur hear about weight management" !!! My mind said what the f@ck and punch him!
Should have had in January, then June, now July-is crazy when u wish to have a tumour to get treatment! Cos i don't show all classic physical symptoms, and GP/wrong notes is leading to another wrong diagnosis and be left in limboagain!),already been about 11 yrs since i reckon i had it!
blimey best of luck with 2nd MRI
Thanx, the Cushings Disease is no joke, and cos i have Cycling version my Cortisol levels are all over the place. Still waiting for 2nd MRI to pick up pituitary tumour, cos after that they will hopefully operate(thru nose Total Recall style lol). All NHS want to do is bang on about the well funded(drug companies) hormone things like Diabetes! NICE have messed up patients getting meds for Hypothyroidism already(i have to buy them thru a prescriber who also works for NHS!!!).
thanks for contributing to this collection it will help others looking for info on Burnouts and Cushing-Disease with autism
Think for me is doing too much-problem is most things are too much! I feel i have ideas about setting up music equipment differently, time i do am exhausted, think thru mental exhaustion(NHS would say it's depression). Doing things physically been useless for years, but have comorbid things like brain/head injury symptoms/Cushings Disease-so not sure of cause. Used to be less fatigued tho,so is something getting worse.

As others here have described, burn-outs for me usually follow intense periods of activity, in my case especially creative or intellectual activity.
During burnouts, I feel emotionally exhausted, and creatively paralysed: I can’t do anything. After weeks or months, they lift and I have another stretch of productivity. I think I do usually feel depressed during burnout, or maybe I move in and out of depression during them.
mainly for me it's after social events doesn't really matter how long it's for the burnout feels the same I just crash, I can keep up with some heavy intellectual activity for maybe 3 hours with small 2-5 mins breaks.
if I have busy doing things I like however I don't really feel burnout more just tired from a busy day it feels different sometimes its hard to tell the difference though
Burnout for me comes as a result of activity, sensory overload and stress.
The signs of it coming on are usually me feeling really tired and drained, really irritable and finding everything annoying. During burnout I just... sleep for days, lol
you appear to have very classical autistm related burnouts. thanks for adding to this collection. it will be useful for others coming after you to be be able to identify what they are experiencing are autistic burnouts and not depression
A burn out for me happens when I've had a prolonged period of both physical and mental activity. I will continually hype myself up and then suddenly stop. It's like being in fast forward and then someone presses the pause button. The burn out itself is where I'm so drained mentally, emotionally and physically that I am unable to move, or very sluggish movement. It can look like depression, but I'm not feeling depressed. A sudden depletion of batteries, followed by a period of recharging.
